Traditional sizing and fitting methods for bikes will be to have an inside leg and torso measurement, then have the bike's saddle height and stem length adjusted accordingly, however our BG FIT service provides much more than this. For £120 (£90 with a hill point’s card) you will spend 2 hours (sometimes more) with our Trained BG FIT technician Gary Moore.
The BG FIT process involves many tests, measurements and questions that will allow us to tailor your bike perfectly. Where possible we will simply adjust your current bike however it does sometimes occur that some parts will need to be replaced for a different size. Here is a list of some of the things that will be looking at during a BG FIT:
- The type of cyclist that you are; a triathlete will have different set-up requirements to a sportive rider
- Any injuries (past or present) that may affect your ride
- Foot angles; so we can see if you have a varus, valgus or flat foot
- Width of your stance
- Hamstring length
- How flexible your back, neck and shoulders are
- We pay great attention to the angle of your feet, knees and pedal system
Hopefully this is starting to build up a picture of the detail that we go into during a BG FIT. All of our fittings are performed in a special BG FIT area. For an illustrative video of the BG fit process please see below. If you are interested in having a BG FIT done then please ring us on (01892) 527069 to book an appointment. Below is a short list of some of the requirements and frequently asked questions regarding the BG FIT:
- In order to get the most accurate fit possible we ask that you bring all your cycle clothing with you, this way we can see exactly how you are on the bike.
- It is important that you bring you cycling shoes and socks along on the day.
- You will need to bring you bike along (rather obviously) so we can tailor it to you, however it is worth remembering that many of the tips you will learn can be used when you get home to allow you to adjust the rest of your bikes!
- A towel may be a good idea, as most of the fit is done in a turbo trainer you may find yourself working up a bit of a sweat!
